Flowers white with purple veins and edges, 10 cm dia., tepals x4-6, and black anthers. Cut flower! Late Oct to late April. (xC) Award of Garden Merit. Absolutely one of my favourites!

A good vanilla-scented cultivar with rounded cup-shaped pink flowers 5-7cm across. Strong growing plant 8-10m. "Pruning after flowering". (xA) Stronger pink than most.

Flowers are rosy-purple fading to soft heliotrope 10-14cm dia., tepals x4-6, anthers greenish yellow. Semi-nodding. (xC) Midsummer to autumn. Fantastic climbing in roses. Beautymus fantasticus!

Flowers bright crimson with a lighter centre, 10-12 cm dia., overlapping tepals x6, and yellow anthers. Late spring to mid autumn. Vigorous. (xB/C) One of our most adored Clematis.

Large bright red flowers with contrasting creamy-yellow anthers. Raised at the nursery of D.T Poulsen, Denmark in 1970 but not introduced into the U.K. until 1992. A hybrid of 'Lasurstern' x 'Daniel Deronda'. We are now licensed to propagate and sell "Vino" in NZ.

Mid to deep-purple nodding flowers with pale green anthers. A charming species introduced from southern Europe before 1569. Hugh Morgan, Elizabeth I's pharmacist, had a specimen in his garden at that time grown as "Clematis peregrina Coerulea purpurea". In 1583, Rembert Dodoens, a professor in Leiden, writes that viticella is cultivated in Belgian gardens and grows wild... in Spain and Italy (© 1999 Robin Savill). Early summer to early autumn. (xC)

Very large supposedly fully double in first crop, generally single flowered with us. 15-20cm, tepals x6-10 campanula-violet, staminoider rosy-lavender-lilac fading, anthers pale yellow. (xB) Highly rated for its beauty.
